Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Showcase Baseball and Tournament Teams?

The answer is merely in the level of play and opportunity that is often associated. Showcase baseball is a more elite kind of baseball that often attracts college coaches and professional scouts. Showcase baseball includes some of not only the best talent, but the best character players around (this is what scouts and college coaches are after). Playing showcase ball creates opportunity that far exceeds your average tournament team were recognition may end with family and friends seeing that trophy hoisted.

Absolutely not!

Our staff wants to see you get better no matter what team you play for!

When you sign up for a lesson or camp, you’re going to get the same high-quality instruction and attention to detail that we give to every player that trains here, not just the ones that play for us.

Age exceptions will be handled at our staff’s best discretion on a per-player basis if there is room to safely accommodate a younger/older player in the camp.

We  will credit the cost of the camp towards lessons or an upcoming camp.

We do lessons with players of all ages.

We suggest that players in tee ball stick to our basic skills lessons so they can develop a good foundation of all general baseball skills.

The common amounts are once per week, or once every other week.

This really comes down to how many appointments are within your financial and time budgets.

YES! Girls that play baseball and fastpitch softball are welcome in our lessons and camps!

Any of our staff can give lessons on hitting, fielding, catching, or baseball pitching – for fastpitch pitching you’ll need to sign up with Shane Schumaker

Yes, you have 1-year from the date of purchase to use all lessons in a package

The only free-to-use portion of NCBA’s facility are the token operated pitching machines.

All other parts of the facility require a lesson appointment, participation in a camp, or team membership to use.

What parts of the facility do Members get to use?

Team members get open use of NCBA’s entire facility – including the cages and mounds in the instruction room, free tokens for the batting cages, any part of our 3-field outdoor complex, and (supervised) use of the weight room.

The only way to get an NCBA Membership is to try out and be selected to one of our Golden Spikes Teams.

10u-14u tryouts mid-July

15-17u tryouts late-July and late-October

NCBA’s Golden Spikes are a 2-season commitment (spring/summer AND fall seasons), so tryouts are only held once per year

Specific dates can always be found under the “Golden Spikes” tab.

10u-14u Player Development team tryouts are generally early-mid July

15u-17u  College Prospect team tryouts are held late-July/early-August and mid-late October

This depends largely on the age group:

10u and 11u stay the most local, playing around Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Asheboro, Martinsville, etc. Mostly events that are comfortably drivable without a hotel stay.

12u team still plays mostly local Triad events, with one large exception: We go to Cooperstown Dreams Park for a week-long tournament during the summer every year

13u and 14u teams will play a mix of some local events, and some out-of-town Charlotte, Raleigh, or Asheville

15u-17u College Prospect Teams will play a mix of tournaments and showcase events close to home in Greensboro or Charlotte, as well as overnight stays in places such as Greenville, Myrtle Beach, Asheville, and Atlanta

All Golden Spikes practice at NCBA 2 days per week guaranteed!

We have our own 3-field outdoor complex with batting cages, bullpens, and training space to accommodate any of our teams practice needs without any potential schedule

Our indoor training space ensures that we can still get short practices and workouts in when the weather is too bad to be outside.

NCBA’s Pro Shop stocks many of the smaller accessories that players often need – batting gloves, bat grips, etc.

Bigger items like Gloves, Bats, Uniforms, and Cleats can all be ordered for you.

Unfortunately, Instruction room cages and mounds are not for rent.

If you would like to have Team BP at NCBA, we can reserve cages in the pitching machines for you by the half hour

NCBA’s outdoor facilities are reserved for Golden Spikes practices, lesson appointments, and NCBA camps only.
